Abstract

Purpose : The aim of this research is to study the stress that married nursing officers get from the work and parenting, and degree of husband¡¯s support. Also, this research aims to examine the factors that affect the turnover intentions and their correlation.

Method : The data were collected by a structured questionnaire that targeted 106 married nursing officers who work in army hospitals and have more than one child. The questionnaire includes questions on sociological characteristics of the respondents, their stress from work and parenting, husband¡¯s support and turnover intention.

Result : This study is based on a previous study that concludes that family support is important for nursing officers¡¯ service and being a parent has a significant effect on their turnover rates. This study tries to investigate stress from work, parenting, and degree of husband¡¯s support. But according to this study, parenting stress and degree of husband¡¯s support are not significant. The research only shows that turnover intention score related with parenting stress is high in the group that shows high level of parenting stress, and both turnover intention and parenting stress show positive correlation. Also the research shows that turnover intention of married nursing officers is strongly correlated with
work stress, and also position is a factor that influences turnover intention.

Conclusion : Therefore, better turnover prevention policies that reduce work stress and more detailed studies about parenting stress and family support are needed to decrease turnover intention and secure high-quality military
nursing human resources.
